  • There is this awesome store in Richmond (Vancouver) that my parents took me to the last time I went up.  It's called Daiso and it's this huge Japanese $2 store with legit Japanese dishes, sushi stuff, random stationary and beauty things...pretty much it's an asian $2 store that has pretty good quality stuff.  I used to joke that next time I would come up with an extra empty suitcase so that I could take go shopping there and take stuff back.  Well now, I DON'T HAVE TO!   I was shopping at Zion this morning and saw this new strip mall with a big "DAISO" sign and had to go check it out to see if it was the same one.  I'm SO excited because it's the same store (not as huge but still a good size), except instead of being a $2, it's a $1.50 store!!  I'm telling you, there is so much stuff in there that you'll feel like you don't even really need but because it's so cheap you want to buy it.  It's on Balboa near the 163N freeway entrance...go check it out, it's a lot of fun to just walk around and see how much they have.

  • The start of a new phase...

A while ago I posted that I got into the IRPS program at UCSD and while that seems so long ago, I can't believe it's already here.  I officially quit my job at Latham last Tuesday and last Thursday started my week long Economics Prep class.  It seems so surreal being back in the academic world and not being in my job.  Even though the job itself wasn't the greatest I loved working with the people that I did and I still kinda miss hoppin' on the Coaster to go work downtown.  I admit that I'm a little freaked out about the workload when I start in the Fall because I haven't done that much heavy thinking in the past couple years.  I'm hoping it will all come back when I do start.

I am thankful because God has made my life very full.  I am learning to be content in the circumstances God has placed before me and I'm grateful for the lessons I've learned along the way.  This summer was awesome in that I got to see how God worked in the lives of brothers and sisters around me.  Seeing His faithful hand even though people felt like they were in spiritual ruts, and watching them grow and learn was really gratifying.  I'm really thankful for the youth and the youth ministry that God has placed me in.  My fondest memories this summer have been with them and I continue to surprise myself at how immature I can be =)  I now leave you with one of my favourite pictures: "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, have no fun"

  • Why Men are Never Depressed (I got this from a coworker)

Men Are Just Happier People-- What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack. You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth.. The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them. The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time.

Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars. You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.

You can play with toys all your life. Your belly usually hides your big hips. One wallet and one pair of shoes -- one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can "do" your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.

You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24th in 25 minutes.

    No wonder men are happier...
